I’m a Licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor and have been working as a counselor since 2016. I received my Bachelors degree in psychology and my Masters degree in counseling psychology from Troy University.
Before my counseling career, I served on active duty in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic then as a Director of Education at a leadership school. However, I discovered I enjoyed helping others navigating life stressors and decided a life change to counseling was the right choice. After dipping my toe in each area of mental health practice, I decided working outpatient with children is where I wanted to be. And because I am a lifelong learner, I set off on the Registered Play Therapy path and discovered Adlerian play therapy which is now the theoretical base for my work. One core principle I believe in is that people need to feel courageous, connected, capable, and that they count. These are known as the Crucial C’s. When they have balanced Crucial C’s, they can live an emotionally healthy life. This is my goal as a therapist.
I am happily married to my wonderful husband of 25 years; we have two adult children, three dogs, a cat, and backyard chickens. I enjoy reading and doing puzzles. Time with family and friends is my happy place and I believe quality connection is what keeps me grounded.
Meet Wookie:
Wookie is a 5-year-old Aussie Mountain Doodle and therapy dog. She loves to fetch, be cuddled, or just have her belly rubbed. Wookie makes the perfect therapy dog because she helps kids and adults co-regulate emotions. She also helps boost connection, learn to regulate emotions, and skills development. Wookiee is free to move between the playroom and office as she feels comfortable. When she needs a break, she will go to her bed in Angela’s office which is her off limits area. She leads by example of how to communicate, when to take breaks, and how to self-regulate.

Angela has completed advanced training in the following:
Play-based approach that helps children build confidence, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships while considering the family system as a whole.
Child-led therapy approach that encourages emotional expression, self-esteem, and healing through play.
A therapy approach focused on strengthening parent-child relationships and improving behavior and communication.
An evidence-based therapy model that helps children and families process trauma and develop healthy coping skills.
A trauma therapy approach that helps individuals process distressing memories and reduce emotional overwhelm.
A therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation to support emotional healing, stress reduction, and behavior change.
A therapy approach combining mindfulness and cognitive strategies to help manage stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation.
A trauma-focused therapy that helps individuals reframe unhelpful thoughts related to traumatic experiences.
A structured trauma therapy designed to reduce fear and distress connected to traumatic memories and situations.
A skills-based therapy focused on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthy relationships.
Children and Families:
With children and families, I use Adlerian Play Therapy which is a systems approach to looking at the family as a whole. Kids don’t develop in a bubble. I believe we can better understand what is going on with your child by looking both at them individually, in the family, and at school. Through their experiences and behaviors in these environments and settings, we can get a fuller picture and better learn how to help your child and your family. Children do not come to therapy to talk. Play therapy enables them to process their experiences through play using things like experiential play, storytelling, metaphors, art, movement, music/dance, and sand tray therapy.
Adults:
With Adults, the approach depends on the concern brought into the therapy room. I tend to be more integrative with adults, pulling interventions from many different theoretical modalities unless the presenting concern is trauma.
